If you love lasagna, be sure to check out more of my favorite recipes like Easy Lasagna Recipe, Lasagna Roll Ups and Lasagna Soup. I think I could write a love letter about this Ravioli Lasagna. Ever since I first whipped it up, it’s basically all my family requests for dinner. Traditional lasagna is great and all, but using ravioli makes it so much easier! This recipe takes what you love about classic lasagna and just replaces the noodles with cheese ravioli. If you’re a ravioli fan like I am, this recipe will be right up your alley. The best part? It’s EASY! If you take a quick look at the process and ingredients needed, you’ll notice that everything is as simple as can be. We love this no-fuss dinner recipe!

Why we love this Ravioli Lasagna:

Simple Ingredients: Your shopping list is delightfully short. Nothing listed here is going to break the bank! Versatile: There are plenty of ways to change things up to best fit your needs. Scroll down to my variations section for some ideas. Fun: I love recipes that flip tradition on its head! This ravioli lasagna recipe became an instant classic with my kids just because it’s different from the norm.

Ravioli Lasagna Ingredients:

Italian Sausage: You can always swap this with really any ground meat you want. Just note that you’ll want to sprinkle in some additional seasonings to supplement the flavor. Frozen Ravioli: Cheese ravioli is my favorite to use, but you can really use any ravioli you like best. Or, go a little nuts and swap it entirely with tortellini. Mozzarella and Parmesan: If possible, try to use freshly grated cheeses for the very best flavor and consistency. Tomato Sauce: Any jar of marinara sauce you prefer will work fabulously — choose one you love! Onion: Use a white or yellow onion for the best flavor. Garlic: Fresh garlic is preferred over pre-minced, but either will work. Italian Seasoning: The herbaceous flavor this lends the dish is so nice. Feel free to sprinkle in a little extra if you really love it.

How to make lasagna with ravioli

Ravioli Lasagna is so easy to toss together! For more detailed step by step instructions, just scroll on down to the recipe card.

Cook the Italian sausage and onions until the meat is fully cooked. Mix in the garlic, Italian seasoning and tomato sauce.

Spread some of the sauce mixture onto the bottom of the casserole dish and top with ravioli. Top with mozzarella and more sauce. Add the rest of the ravioli, the last of the sauce and all of the remaining cheese. Cover the dish with foil and bake at 375°F for 30 minutes. Feel free to uncover and brown the cheese at the end of the cooking time.

Variations and Substitutions

Make it spicy: Sprinkle some crushed red pepper flakes into the meat sauce to create a spicy element. Make it vegetarian: You can omit the meat entirely if you want. Just note that the lasagna will lose a bit of its structure, but it’ll still be tasty! Garnish it: Fresh herbs like basil or parsley add a gorgeous pop of vibrant color, herbaceous aroma and pleasant flavor. Add more cheese: More cheese? Sounds good to me! You can always sprinkle in more mozzarella or parmesan. Or, go a little crazy by adding a layer of ricotta cheese somewhere in the mix.

How to store Ravioli Lasagna

Store your leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Add a splash of water and reheat individual portions in the microwave for up to 30 seconds at a time until warmed all the way through.

Can I freeze leftover Lasagna?

Sure thing! Wait for the lasagna to fully cool to room temperature prior to freezing in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Allow it to defrost in the fridge prior to reheating so that it heats through evenly. Add a splash of water to the pan, cover with foil and reheat the whole lasagna in a 300 degree F oven just until warmed through.

Serving suggestions:

This is one hearty comfort dinner! Lighten up your plate with a simple side salad or some veggies like Air Fryer Green Beans, Cheesy Asparagus or Broccoli Casserole. Of course, you can never go wrong with some Garlic Bread!
