I’m sure we can all agree that yogurt on its own is delicious. But one of my favorite ways to serve up yogurt is as these delicious Yogurt Parfaits! These breakfast parfaits are just about as simple as can be with just three basic layers. They’re also super customizable! Choose between your favorite yogurt, whatever crunchy granola you like, and any number of different fruits, fruit combinations, or fruit sauce. The possibilities are endless. Enjoy these parfaits right away or prep them ahead of time for an easy breakfast or nutritious snack anytime! I like to serve them with Mini Frittata Muffins, Healthy Blueberry Oatmeal Muffins or Pumpkin Muffins for a healthy breakfast that keeps us going all day!
Ingredients Needed for Yogurt Parfaits:
There are three basic components to a Yogurt Parfait. All you need is this simple formula, then you can get creative with it from there!
The Yogurt
Use whatever brand or flavor of yogurt your heart desires. Vanilla Greek yogurt is always a great option, but feel free to use any flavor of yogurt and regular, Greek or Skyr yogurt.
The Fruit
There are plenty of fruit options for Yogurt Parfaits. We love using canned or frozen and thawed fruit during the fall and winter when fresh fruit is expensive. It’s an inexpensive way to keep everything on-hand for a quick breakfast or nourishing snack. Here are some ideas, but feel free to add in your favorites!
Berries: use fresh or frozen strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, or a combination for a mixed berry breakfast parfait. Oranges: canned or fresh mandarin oranges make a great addition. Peaches: I like to use canned or freshly diced peaches. Pears: canned or fresh work great. Cherries: you can use canned or frozen cherries. Make sure to remove the pits! Kiwi: fresh kiwi is delicious added to a yogurt parfait. I like to peel and chop, then store in the fridge for a nutritious snack through the week. Pineapple: fresh or canned pineapple. See my tips for How to Cut a Pineapple here. Mango: fresh, diced mango is a delicious mix-in for parfaits.
I also love to whip up a simple fruit sauce when I have a few extra minutes. It’s delicious and also helps the fruit last longer! Check out my Strawberry Sauce Recipe for inspiration.
The Crunch
Typically, I use granola for crunch. You can use your favorite store-bought variety or whip up a batch of homemade Chunky Monkey Granola! There are also a few other ways you can give your breakfast parfait that crunchy texture. Here are a couple more ideas:
Nuts: try almonds, pecans, walnuts, hazelnuts, or mixed nuts. Cereals: any whole grain cereals you have in your pantry would work. Bran: bran flakes or buds work great. This is a great way to get an extra dose of fibre!
